KINGS RIVER TRAIL ASSOCIATION

WHAT WE DO
The Kings River Trail Association is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of the greenbelts on West Lake Houston Parkway from the bridge at Kings River Drive south to January Drive and south on Kings Parkway down to FM 1960.  (View map)

Kings River Trails Association is represented by an unpaid Board of Directors, composed of residents, who are elected to yearly terms. We operate and assess independently of the Villages in the surrounding area. Our responsibilities include general maintenance of all common areas: mowing, dead tree harvesting, mosquito abatement, repairs on existing trails and repairs on perimeter fences.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
The following is a short recap of the rules and regulations governing the use of the Association greenbelts. The following is not meant to supersede the official Declarations, Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions, but to be used as a reference for residents.
  • The greenbelts are considered as nature areas, not a park.
  • Unauthorized alterations and/or modifications including digging, cutting of trees or shrubs, and adding synthetic material is strictly prohibited.
  • Motorized (including battery operated) vehicles/bikes/carts or any type are not allowed unless for necessary maintenance.
  • Dumping of trash, grass clippings, tree limbs, landscaping materials, or other litter is strictly forbidden.
  • The possession of weapons, including but not limited to guns, bows, BB rifles, pellet guns, etc is prohibited. Hunting of wildlife, including birds is also prohibited.
  • Defacing, graffiti or causing damage to the fences walls, or other structures is prohibited.
  • Dogs or other pets on the greenbelt must be leased. (The City of Houston ordinance requires that each person in control of a dog or cat promptly remove and dispose in a sanitary manner, feces left by such dog or cat. If you walk the trails, you should carry and use materials to pick up and dispose of droppings. If you are convicted of a violation, the fine can range from $75 to more than $500).
  • Open fires and fireworks are prohibited.
PLEASE HELP KEEP OUR TRAILS SAFE AND BEAUTIFUL WITH THESE FEW TIPS:

Ride Friendly – Bicyclists should give an audible warning before overtaking pedestrians. A simple statement such as “passing on your left (right)” will do. A bicycle bell is a traditional signal and is much appreciated.

Ride Safely – The Texas Code of Laws says that anyone under the age of 18 MUST wear head protection while riding a bicycle.

Be Thoughtful – Please discard your trash at home or in one of the trash receptacles located on the trails. A special thanks to all those conscientious walkers who carry plastic bags to pick up debris on the trails that has been carelessly discarded.

The Kings River Trail Association strives to maintain a safe, enjoyable and attractive amenity for all to enjoy. If you have any questions, please contact the property management company, Sterling ASI at (832) 678-4500, if you notice anything that could be a danger to trail users. Broken tree limbs can happen at any time due to windy conditions – please call us and we will respond promptly.
