Irrigation for Kings River
Posted on Jun 22nd, 2011
We have drastically cut back on watering the turf grass, as MUD 151 has asked for voluntary water conservation. The turf grass is Bermuda which is a native grass. It will brown up when water is scarce, but will rebound once we get some rain. We are overbudget on water by $3525.90 for the year. The really bad news is that we had the water turned off for the winter. With the new charges for ground water conversion we need to be very careful where and when we water.
We're going to plant more native drought tolerant plants at the entrances - we just voted to allow $4500.00 for this project. No more annuals will be planted. More and more communities are planting only perennials, as we will do in the future.
If your neighbors comment on the dry grass, please let them know we're trying to stretch their dollars as far as possible - and help conserve water during this severe drought. If you haven’t had a chance to go down Kings River Drive to Lakeview Park, it is worth a trip. It is completely dry. We will need many more days of rain to make up for this severe water deficit.
